Changes to the OČR Process

As of 1 January 2025, there will be a change in the way the “Care for a Family Member” benefit (OČR) is issued.

OČR will be issued and terminated exclusively in electronic form and will be sent directly to the Czech Social Security Administration (ČSSZ). No paper forms will be issued anymore, and nothing will be picked up at the surgery.

If it is not possible to issue OČR electronically (for example due to an internet outage, or especially in cases where birth numbers cannot be matched with the population registry), you will need to collect the form in person as before.

When OČR is started or terminated, a code (identifier) will be sent to the parent’s phone and, if needed, to their email. This code must be provided to the parent’s employer. It is essential that we have the correct phone number in our system.

OČR can be started on the day the child becomes ill, and up to 3 days retrospectively.

OČR can be terminated on the day you request the termination, and up to 3 days in advance. These rules must be followed, as they are strictly required by ČSSZ, and unfortunately this often leads to complications.

Termination of OČR can no longer be done retrospectively. However, if you return to work and the OČR is formally terminated only after several days, your employer may—by agreement—count full wages from the day you returned to work.

Please think very carefully about the exact dates when you want to start and end OČR. We will not be able to make corrections to the dates once the OČR has been submitted, as this is not possible.
